The Fort Lauderdale International Film Festival presents A tribute to director John Waters featuring three of his most popular and infamous films. Featured will be:
6:00pm Pink Flamingos (1972)
America’s preeminent trash comedy classic
by John Waters, starring Divine, Edith Massey
and Mink Stole. John Waters called it “an
exercise in poor taste” The Philadelphia Daily
News called it “Lewd! Shameless!” Come see
for yourself.
8:00pm Polyester (1981)
Famous for its “Odorama, Scratch and Sniff”
marketing, Polyester was meant as a spoof
on women’s exploitation films of the 50’s and
60’s. It was also Waters first film to garner
mainstream attention, and was the first to
get an R rating rather than the previous X
ratings, or unrated.
9:45pm Hairspray (1988)
A chubby teenager (Ricki Lake) tries to bring
integration to Baltimore in 1962, Starring Divine
and filled with star appearances (Sonny Bono,
Debra Harry, Jerry Stiller, Mink Stole)
